Stars Reach Discord: The Official Server and Every Other Place to Ask

By SukieUpdated October 11, 20268 min read

The official Stars Reach Discord invite is discord.gg/DYtN7HAN4X. It is the link on starsreach.com, and on 11 October 2026 Discord's own invite lookup showed it opening the "Stars Reach" server with about 18,157 members, roughly 4,870 of them online.

Discord is where Playable Worlds runs its weekend events and announces maintenance, but it is not the best place for every question. Below: how to check an invite is the real one, what actually happens on the server, where to look when the game seems down, and which other places (the status page, Steam Discussions, r/StarsReach, the GUNC guild's tools and the support desk) answer which questions better.

The official invite, and how to tell it is real

Playable Worlds links discord.gg/DYtN7HAN4X from the footer of starsreach.com and from its weekly Starside posts (the 24 September 2026 post uses it for the Boss Battle Buffet). The build notes and Raph Koster's 20 August 2026 launch letter also use a shorter vanity link, discord.gg/starsreach.

Correction to an earlier version of this page: we previously warned that discord.gg/starsreach was not the official server. That was wrong. On 11 October 2026 we looked up both invites through Discord's public invite API, and both return the same server ID (882005173394890802), named "Stars Reach". So did the channel-specific invites the studio posts, such as the #wow-moments link in Starside 12 September and the Auditorium link used for an earlier trivia event. Any of them puts you in the same place.

The reliable test for any invite is the same one we used: paste the code into a lookup, or open it, and check the server name and that the link appears on starsreach.com or in an official post. A working invite only proves that some server exists behind it. Fan servers are fine, but developer announcements do not appear there.

What actually happens on the official server

Since Early Access launched on 18 August 2026 the server has had a regular weekly rhythm, and it is the main reason to join rather than just reading the patch notes.

Fireside with Raph: Raph Koster talks about recent changes and what the team is working on, on Twitch, usually at 10:00 AM Pacific on a weekend day (Sunday in the 4 September Starside, Saturday on 18 and 24 September). Boss Battle Buffet: straight after the Fireside, usually at 11:30 AM Pacific, players gather in the Discord and head to an Adventure World to fight creatures together for experience and loot. The 2 October Starside said the latest one ran on a weekday evening, so check the announcements for the time each week.

Community-run events use the server too. On the weekend of 4 September the GUNC guild ran two Maker Hunts, and players met in the WatchPlaytestLive channel to join. The 2 October Starside promoted a Cityscape Tour of four player towns on Twitch and an in-game trivia night hosted by LDP at The Event Space on Cohufotag-2.

Two channels are worth knowing by name. #wow-moments is where you share screenshots and builds; the studio says it picks from there for its community spotlight. The welcome and rules channel is where an invite drops you first. Maintenance windows are announced on Discord as well: the 8.5.0 Ground Control notes said the window would be posted "via Discord and in-game broadcast".

Small server, live community

Membership and online counts on Discord are not players in the game. On 11 October 2026 the Steam API showed 8 people in game at 09:00 UTC while the Discord showed about 4,870 members online. Use Discord to find people for an event; use the player-count page for how many are actually playing.

Game won't connect? Check these before asking

"Is it down?" is the most common question on any game server, and you can usually answer it yourself in a minute.

First, the official status page at playableworlds.statuspage.io. The build notes from Hotfix 8.4.5 onward tell players to "keep an eye on Server Status" there. It has one component, "Stars Reach Production Servers"; on 11 October 2026 it read "All Systems Operational" with no incidents or scheduled maintenance listed. Second, the Discord announcements for a maintenance window. Third, the newest pinned thread on Steam Discussions, where each update is posted with its downtime (8.5.1, for example, ran from 8 AM to 11 AM Pacific with about three hours of downtime).

If all three look normal and you can connect but the game is sluggish, open the performance monitor with F9. Since 8.7.0 it shows your ping, packet loss and server load with blue, yellow and red lights, and hovering a light explains it in plain language. A red Server light points to the server; a red Ping light points to your connection. Our server status and lag pages go through the rest.

What it shows: The studio's own walkthrough of the opening path. Worth watching before you ask "what do I do after Haven?", the most common new-player question on Steam.

Which place answers which question

  • "Are the servers down?" Status page first, then Discord announcements. Both are official.
  • "What did the last patch change?" The build notes on starsreach.com. The current build is 8.7.2 (Crafted in Color Hotfix, 2 October 2026). Our patch notes page keeps a dated summary.
  • "Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?" Discord, for a quick answer from players online now. If it is a bug, file it at the help desk afterwards; a Discord message is not a bug report.
  • "How do I open this puzzle cache?" Nobody official will tell you: 8.4.0 says the alien puzzles "intentionally lack instructions". Players trade tips on Steam and Reddit, and our puzzle solver page works through the puzzle types players describe.
  • "Where do I find iron, fibre or a recipe?" GUNC's Recipe Library, Material Library and galaxy map at gunc.org, or Steam Discussions, where several threads already cover where specific resources are. Resources differ by planet and change, so check the date of any answer.
  • "When is the wipe or 1.0?" Nowhere yet. No date has been published; asking on Discord gets the same answer. Our wipe page quotes the official wording.
  • "Can you add X?" The ProductLift board at playable-worlds.productlift.dev, which the developers link to when discussing upcoming items.

Guilds and fan resources worth knowing

The best-known player group is GUNC. The studio names it in its own posts: GUNC hosted the Maker Hunts in the 4 September Starside, and GUNC_StarsReach topped the list of creators in the studio's creator campaign (Starside 18 September). The guild runs gunc.org, which has a wiki with 22 guides, a Recipe Library, a PQRV Forge, a Skill Tree Forge, a Material Library and a galaxy map. Its own Discord, discord.com/invite/gunc, showed the server "G.U.N.C." with about 198 members on 11 October 2026.

Those tools are copyrighted by GUNC ("All rights reserved"), so we link to them rather than copy them, and so should you if you build anything. They are also fan-made. When a GUNC page and an official build note disagree, the build note wins, and some details (resources by planet, the number of star systems) change as the galaxy changes.

Other places: stars-reach.wiki has guides in several languages. The older MediaWiki at starsreach.wiki was last edited in March 2026 and describes the pre-Early Access game, so treat it as history. Steam has only two community guides for the game: a Galactopedia contents list and a "Basic Guide (Few Spoilers)" covering the Haven missions, Klaatus, the skill shop and the camp kit.

r/StarsReach is small. About 70 posts went up between launch and 9 October 2026, and most get under 20 comments. Questions do get answered, though, and unlike Discord the answers stay searchable.

Reporting bugs and getting account help

Discord is not the support desk. In his 20 August 2026 launch letter Raph Koster asked players to report bugs through the support ticketing system, which is the Zendesk help centre at playableworldshelp.zendesk.com. Use it for lost items, broken keys, account problems and anything you want tracked.

Key redemption problems were the most common account issue in launch week: around eight Steam threads in August were about Kickstarter or backer keys. Founders Pack and Kickstarter items are delivered through the entitlements system in the ESC menu, added in Early Access Update 8.4.0, which also lets you redeem keys in game. If a key fails there, open a ticket.

The studio also used email for at least one programme: the 4 September Starside asked players to write to support@playableworlds.com to sign up for recorded Haven play sessions. For game feedback rather than bugs, the ProductLift board is where requests are collected, and the developer posts in Steam Discussions are where Raph Koster has outlined upcoming work, most recently on 10 October 2026 (Pacific time).

Getting a useful answer from the community

  1. Name the build. Patches arrive often (8.7.0 on 24 September, 8.7.2 on 2 October), so "since 8.7.2" tells helpers what changed.
  2. Describe what you see, not your theory. "My character snaps back three metres when I sprint" gets a better answer than "the netcode is broken". If you can, include what the F9 monitor shows.
  3. Check the status page and the announcement channel before asking about downtime. Most outage questions are already answered there.
  4. Search Steam Discussions and r/StarsReach first for how-to questions. Discord history is hard to search, so good answers given last week are effectively gone; Steam and Reddit threads stay findable.
  5. Say which planet you are on for resource, mining or homestead questions. Resources and Servitor edicts differ by planet, and homesteads cannot be placed everywhere.
  6. Use the in-game Friends button and the party system for meeting up. Since 8.5.0 you can see friends' planet and coordinates on the Profile screen, and since 8.6.0 /party invite forms a group whose members show as waypoints.
  7. Do not ask for a 1.0 or wipe date in general chat. There isn't one, and the answer will be the same every time.

Common questions

What is the official Stars Reach Discord link?

discord.gg/DYtN7HAN4X, linked from starsreach.com. The vanity link discord.gg/starsreach used in the build notes opens the same server; on 11 October 2026 both resolved to the server "Stars Reach" (ID 882005173394890802).

How many people are in the Stars Reach Discord?

Discord's invite lookup showed about 18,157 members and about 4,870 online on 11 October 2026. That is Discord membership, not people playing: the Steam API showed 8 players in game at 09:00 UTC the same day.

Is there an official Stars Reach server status page?

Yes: playableworlds.statuspage.io, linked from the build notes since Hotfix 8.4.5. It tracks one component, "Stars Reach Production Servers". Maintenance is also announced on Discord and by in-game broadcast.

Is there a Stars Reach subreddit?

Yes, r/StarsReach, linked from starsreach.com. It is small but searchable, which makes it better than Discord for questions you may want to find again.

Where do I report a bug in Stars Reach?

Through the Playable Worlds support ticketing system at playableworldshelp.zendesk.com, as Raph Koster asked in his 20 August 2026 launch letter. Discord is fine for checking whether others see the same bug, but it is not a ticket.

What is GUNC?

A player guild that runs gunc.org (wiki, Recipe Library, PQRV Forge, Skill Tree Forge, galaxy map) and its own Discord. The studio has featured it, for example its Maker Hunts in the 4 September 2026 Starside. Its tools are fan-made and copyrighted, so link to them and check official notes when they disagree.
